Não é a primeira vez que Florenço Varela, deputado do PAICV, alude à ascendência judaica de Carlos Veiga. Também não é por acaso que Manuel Delgado trouxe o mesmo assunto a público há poucos dias. E não será mera coincidência o facto de, alguns dias antes, se ter divulgado na Internet uma carta obtusa de autor desconhecido chamando Carlos Veiga de "porco judeu". Esta sanha contra a pessoa de Carlos Veiga tem uma explicação simples. Contrariamente ao "amor" que Florenço Varela e seus camaradas deixam escapar da boca para fora, nutrem na realidade um profundo ódio a Carlos Veiga e seus apoiantes, pelo facto daquele ter ousado desafiar o PAICV nos anos 90 e continuar a desafiar os que querem impor o pensamento único em Cabo Verde. Não suportam o facto de metade dos eleitores do país se identificarem e se reverem em Carlos Veiga. É completamente intolerável para eles, e é apenas por essa razão que não perdem uma oportunidade para tentar destrui-lo politicamente e manchar a sua honra. Pena é que Pedro Pires não tenha tido a coragem de repetir frente a frente no debate, de que fugiu, as acusações que mandou os seus apoiantes fazer.

Este retomar periódico dos ataques pessoais a Carlos Veiga é fruto da profunda arrogância que o actual poder manifesta nas mínimas coisas. Is the U.S. State Department awake?

Is anyone actually watching where U.S. foreign aid taxpayer dollars go and for what?

These are questions being asked by the small but vocal Cape Verde national community in the U.S. as Washington continues to back a regime in the archipelago nation of 10 islands in the Atlantic about 300 miles west of Senegal.

This month a rigged presidential election took place in which the thuggish ruling party, PAICV, won. No surprise there. G2B predicted the outcome in advance.

Most of the nation’s population – largely Christian – chose not to participate in the pre-determined sham vote.

But the campaign was uglier than even expected.

Prior to the election, Florenco Varela, a deputy of PAICV, wrote articles attacking former Prime Minister Carlos Veiga for having Jewish ancestry – and therefore represented a great danger to Cape Verde.

No official of PAICV or the government of Cape Verde has yet denounced the anti-Semitic slur by Varela.

There is trouble brewing in Cape Verde – and no one in Washington seems to be noticing.

The nation is a transit point between Western Europe and Southern Africa as well as South America. Therefore, it is very strategic.

The U.S. government has sent more than $110 million in aid to Cape Verde because of its pretenses toward democratic government.

The real story of Cape Verde, however, is one of Christian persecution and oppression by socialist thugs.

Have the MPD members behind this campaign, which aims to hurt the Cape Verdean relationship with USA, thought about the consequences of what they are doing?

Have you thought about how much the accusations that the country attack Jews can hurt your people and your family back home?
You may have many reasons to hate PAICV and their members but please, stop hurting the whole country with your unfounded accusations. Just because Francisco Varela, a member of PAICV, mentioned the Jewish ancestry of Carlos Veiga in one of his article, now you will get this conservative and biased journalist, Mr. Joseph Farah, chief editor of WorldNetDaily.com, to tell the American people and people in Power in Washington - of whom may are Jewish - that the regime of Cape Verde hates Jewish people? Can you show at least one event that shows that Cape Verdeans - whom many are from Jewish background - hate Jewish people?

Your party fanaticism and hate against PAICV are making you blind and you are organizing the most hurtful campaign against Cape Verde and its people. You may be right that there were fraud that stole the presidential election again from Carlos Veiga. There are many evidences that tend to support this.

But, don't let your anger against PAICV extend to the innocent people of Cape Verde. In the name of your family that lives back home, and in the name of the good nation of Cape Verde, stop this hurtful campaign because even if you succeed, PAICV and Pedro Pires will not give up their power, and if the US cuts its aid to Cape Verde your goal will not be achieved. I understand your concern about capeverdian people being hurt. I guess you don't make much difference between "persecution" and "attack".

In Cape Verde never has been a persecution of Jews, but lately there has been attacks against the jews. The matter of Fact is Florenco Varela was blatantly bold on his accusation, besides the letter that called Carlos veiga "jewish pig". It is an attack on Jews. Isn't it?
Nothing has been done to condemn these acts. I agree with sapo, that the president of Cabo Verde and its government should condemn such statement, but nothing has been done. It is just like agreeing with almost everything that has been said and done. Of course people tend to assume it could have been worse if Cabo verde was economically independent and didn't need US or anybody else to survive. The danger associated with such statement is that it can be perceived as a welcome to "Al-Qaeda" and all the Jews haters worldwide. Pretty soon the terrorist will start seeing cape verde as a safe heaven where they can direct their attacks on Jewish people, Israel, etc. Joining to the Axis of Evil's countries.
