Brockton is a city of diversity. Its population is divided between White people, African American, Capeverdean, Haitian, Spanish, Portuguese, Braislian and others. This mix of people is not being reflected on the Administration of the city where most of the decision making position is filled with one group only. This lack of diversity reflects on a lack of understanding of the problems and needs of each minority group so that often times there is one shoe fit all, when it comes to making accurate decision.
In Brockton Publis Schools, a huge part of students are Capeverdean while few teachers are present to accomodadte the needs of such a demand in the Public Schools teacher who understands the students problem, understand the parents problems, and addres those problems as they come up. Many school policies are made just to make the lives of the students and the families more complpicated than they already are.
With that in mind, that I recommend that any Capeverdean that is proud of himself, proud of his community, and have what it takes to fill the position of DIRECTOR OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT in the BPS, do so.
My recommendation to apply fo that position goes for any experienced teachers, people in the health field (nurses, health education, etc) and school related fields (education degree, etc,).
Give back to your community by holding a position that you will be able to help by being part of the administrative tissue of BPS.
If you know of any one who would be interested, he or she should contact the Brockton Public Schoosl as soon as possible because the person who was holding the position just retired.
Thank you.
