Dear Friends,
On Saturday July 29th, 2006 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, the family and friends of Malik Andrade Percival are hosting their 2nd annual Block Party in his name. As you may recall, Malik was the 3 year old baby killed on January 24, 2002 on Barry Street.
This event will be a collaborative effort between the residents of Barry Street, the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and the Bowdoin Street Health Center.
We are well aware of the negative reputation that the street has within the community. Because the area is currently characterized as a “Hot Spot”, the residents and event coordinators are asking everyone to support this event focused on demonstrating the positive side of the area.
We are inviting friends and neighbors to come out, meet each other and enjoy the day without a sense of fear. We want people to stop isolating themselves from this beautiful community that desperately needs to be rejuvenated.
There will be food and beverages for all, plus entertainment for kids of all ages (Face painting, moon bounce, snakes, lizards, pony rides, piñata, Kids Identification cards, Boston Fire Safety, House and traditional drum beats)
If you have any additional questions, please contact Mario at the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (617) 825-1917.
Peace
Clementina M. Chéry, President & CEO
