Direct flight to Praia:
April - is around $850 to Praia
Summer - Around $1200 (1 month) & $1500 over one month.

This is plain ridiculous that prices were kept this high. TACV is operating their own Boeing in a direct flight to Praia, and the prices are going up.
What is the take of ForCV community on this. What can/should we do?

Too expensive. The flight cost should go down.

Are you serious about those prices? What happened to the promises? Why is the site showing $399 and $599?
We go back home because of the emotional attachment… otherwise, there are many cheaper destinations with a better tourist infrastructure (hotel include).
In Cape Verde, companies like TACV and TeleComm really cash in because of their monopoly. Why print those big colorful billboards all over the islands and insert in newspapers and magazines if they are the only ones… we consumers end up paying for that.

i'm saying they act like people have all this money to be paying for these expensive tickets. you would think since they have 2 flights a week they would lower the price. it seems they don't want to make any money. i was just talking about this same thing a few hours ago with a cousin of mine. he called his mom to ask about the special that TACV was promoting but she told him that they no longer have it. so right there TACV lots 3 clients, not that it really matters to them.

to make sure i whent to check out their prices at tacv.cv. at the moment their flights are over a thousand dollars like you'll said and by the looks of it they haven't been keeping up with their site. with all that money that they are making from the comsumers you would think that they would update it. they still have the same promotional add that they posted during the summer . Calling the TACV rates from Boston to Sal expensive is a favor. They are REDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE.

Time to start boycoting TACV

Of course, TACV's prices are ridiculously high, however we have to undersatand that as a veeeeery small company, TACV don't have the financial power to lower those prices nor do they have the discipline to manage the company as it should be managed.

The only way for TACV to lower the prices is to clean the house, stop the rampant cronyism, which is part of the losses, which in turn justifies the high prices. In other words, not only are we subsidizing the tourist's trips to CV but we're also paying every time the son of a Director, Minister or anybody else with good connections, travel for free or way below what we're charged.

So, my dear people my question would be: what are we to do? I've been talking about BOYCOTT for the longest time, because I think that if nobody's coming to your store, you have to find soultions to bring back the customer. Believe me I know what I'm talking about, I run businesses and I know how difficult it is to deal with unhappy customers.

BOYCOTT, people???? Well let's talk to them.

It was done before in France, and people decided to book and cancel when they had to pay, it was a CLEAR message.
And it is ludicrous that they only accept American Express (No VISA or MASTER CARD)

The prices are to expensive, unfortunately this may contribute to the reason why many people don't know of Cape Verde. Tourists wouldn't want to spend $1,300 on an Island they don't even know much!!! And knowing that our people work hard in the states to make a living and send things to CV as well, that price is ridiculous, we can't even afford it which explains why people sometime wait more than 10 yrs to go back and visit once they come! I think this price does more damage to TACV then helps because if it is cheaper more would go and thus the profit would even out or look better.

I think they should at least lower it $300 dollars less but then again I understand they are a small country trying to just start their own business.

I'd like to think that the only reason why the fares are so outrageous is because we're a small country. However we should look a little further, as in cronyism, incompetence and the mother of all sins: no matter what TACV does to us, we'll keep coming, no matter how much they charge us, we'll keep paying, because we are EXTREMELY weak, no ticker (or maybe too much of it) and therefore why change. Remember you DO NOT change a winning team.

I AM NOT TRAVELING TO NJ IN ORDER TO FLY ON TAP AND STILL GO THROUGH PORTUGAL and then CV for about the same price as TACV.

Frankly I don't know any other way for CV GOVT to get money.

If it was cheaper Most people would go to cv 2 times A year isntead of 1 time in 10 years. I really wish i could go to all my SPRING BREAKS IN CV.... BUT IN CAN'T
