I have been censured. This debate doesn't try to solve the problems as it refuses the messages that ask for responsabilities.

I hope forcv is not just a webside trying to make money on the back of cvs.

Dear Otelo,

FORCV.com does not tolerate and allow postings that promote hate, racism and xenophobia against any group, people, race, or color. After a careful analysis, it was decided that your late postings were instigating white Cape Verdeans to hate black or mixed Cape Verdeans, Cape Verdeans to hate black/ African American, blacks to hate whites and vice-versa. So, a decision was made to delete such postings. If you want to be a partecipant of this forum, please read the code of conduct and abide by it. If you want to continue promoting hate, ignorance, racism and instigate conflict, you are not welcome to this forum. And if the latter takes places, we will continue to delete your postings and block any computer that you use to access this forum for allowing you to view or participate on its discussions.

Thank you,

forcv,

I did not promote xenephobia racism. I was just asking for responsabilities.

My posting don't promote hate. It talked about the propaganda that whites use against blacks. The fact of talking about this is not promoting hatred it is just telling the truth. The TV, radios and CINEMAS are full of stereotypes against blacks.

The blacks are suffering and this is mainly due to the hatred that some whites carry against blacks.

the fact is that the truth is stronger than the censorship, what I wrote above is the truth.

I AM GLAD TO SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE, I HOPE THAT IT IS NOT JUST BEING WRITTEN BUT WORKED ON.......BUT YOU HAVE TO GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IT DID NOT JUST START IT HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS SINCE A CHILD ENTERS KINDERGARDEN, IT IS NOT THE INDIVIDUALS FAULT, IT IS NOT THE PARENTS FAULT IT SOMETIMES IS NOT THE COMMUNITIES FAULT NO BODY IN THE CIRCLE KNOWS BETTER. I AM FULLY AWARE THAT WHAT EVER IS HAPPENING IN MA WILL BE HAPPENING IN RI SOON, I HAVE WATCHED IT AND SEE IT COMING, WE CANT CHANGE SOME OF THE MISTAKES, WE CAN ONLY CHANGE THE WAY THE COMMUNITY MAKES ITS DECISION FROM HERE ON.....

In some cases, and once again i want to make it clear that I am reffering to the situations happening now, some kids are first and second generation, I know this, but the culture at times plays a part. You will find that the young men shooting each other come from a background where one or both of the parents are immigrants from cv, if they are not, then they do still carry the old skool mentality and cv morals and cultural beliefs.....Okay check it, The school system, fails, maybe purposely maybe not. When a teacher sends home a report or note, with a child, perhaps the child is struggling in reading, because the homework is not being done, the parent is working so much that the note gets overlooked, or simple the parent cant understand or in some cases read the note, whos fault is that, NOBODY"S! The teacher is under the impression that the parent knows whats up and doesnt care, the parent is under the impression that the teacher knows whats best for thier children.....none of us can afford to have a 24hour translator. If this continues long enough the child loses in the long run, things that should be caught ahead of time go by without correction due to cultural and/or language barriers. In Cape Verde when a child is sent off to school, the parent leaves all educational responsibilities to the school staff, this is where in the US it is misinterpreted as lack of interest, its not, a parent believes "well if the job of the teachers is looking out for my child's best interest, they should know whats best, if I am a parent who doesnt speak or read English, I have no choice but to leave the education up to the teacher, I'll work hard to save money for college, because my child will do good so long as the teachers are doing their job" Now if a teacher is non-capeverdean, they will get discouraged working with that child, because they interpret that to be a parent who does not care about the child education, who suffers? the child, by the time he gets passed through the school system and makes it to high school, he is left behind, because of lack of communication by his parents and teachers, and he gets so frustrated and discouraged that he sees no point in being in school drops out learns from the streets, gets a hold of a gun, drugs, etc. Oh and GOD forbid the young man or woman happens to be a capeverdean, who has not been here very long, or who does not understand the language of law, and thier parents also do not know better or have a full understanding of US law, here comes the police, who take advantage of a situation where a person doesnt not realize they are stepping over their boundries, scary in MA where the stat police have more athority now towards nonwhites, then comes the lawyers, who charge for a service they cant really provide because they dont hire interpreters and charge extra for the frustration, knowing full well that their clients will not even get it if they fail in a court room, even if an interpreter is used, it is a portuguese one, HOLY MOLY, (not all capeverdean understand portuguese by the way) A capeverdean will accept this, why, because they are too embarrassed to say that they dont understand portuguese, because that would put there business out there that they could not afford to go to school in the islands, so they go with the flow, hoping that the PORTUGESE INTERPRETER will look out for them, ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I have seen portuguese interpreters purposely sabotage a case, why not the judge the lawyers, nobody else in that court room know that anything is being translated proplerly even the witness has no idea if their words are being given to the judge in the proper or correct manner, I have witnessed this happen in a court room, I am glad I was there in some cases, and understood the english, criole, and portuguese to call atteintion to it, before an innocent person went to jail, due to the interpretor not doing an adequate job. when it comes to the law, even if a person speaks and understands english, if tested, you can come up legally retarded, this is unfair to prosecute innocent people, just because of a barrier so simple as language, the latinos get offered fairness throught the systems, school, criminal, etc. we need more capeverdean professionals, but how is that going to happen if our children are being accidentally misguided in grammer school, is there a cure, yes accepting the issues as they are, accepting the difference and working to progress positively.

Wow I was Born Here in Us In 1971. I Remember in the early 80's you couldn't be a cape verdean Because nobody knew where it was , and there was no strong structure in our Community. And If there was it was very small. We where walking around saying we were Portuguese. Now we are proud to tell people about CV. We came a long way since the 70's here in the US for us to say we are Cape Verdeans And very Proud to Be. But what is making things hard for us? Is it the Language, or the US customs that we need to get used to? Its None of that It's the violence in the streets that is giving us a bad name. The Cv killing another Cv. It may not be Cv vs Cv all the time but,it's to much and its a lot,and people notice. Did you know the city of Brockton is trying to close all Cv bars because they think its the Cape Verdeans bars that have the most trouble??? they say we don't know how to act like human beings. What does that say to me as a Cv born here? My Parents came here with nothing can't even speak the language, But they have better things than these people who try to put us down. They worked hard there whole life to be where they are,and nobody can tell them nothing. What is my point of all this! Is that who ever read this knows somebody who hangs in the streets, sells drugs, steel cars, what ever it my be,it's part of growing up in the ghetto and learning the hard way. I know cause ive been there. My point is Talk to the youths. Don't preach!!! Talk to them and LISTEN. Because like me growing up in the US as a CV born here i wish I had somebody to just listen. Ive lost 15 friends to gun fire. 13 Cape Verdean 10 from Brockton and 2 in Boston and 1 in Rhode Island. (thats Just the ones i know)not counting the others. (R.I.P)Its Time for this to End, and only us Cape Verdeans can stop it. And if your Cape Verdean and proud to be one you will help one of these Youths. Not by donating Money or taking them out, But just listen to what they have to say,and help them out with there problems. Most of the time when something is wrong you get upset, sometimes very upset, but when you talk it out you realize its not that big of a deal. If you know anyone that needs to be talk to and you don't have the time To be a full Time CV have them call me. ill talk to them. Because i have a daughter born here in the US representing Cape Verdean I want her to grow up and represent her culture to the fullest, To show the World what Cabo Verdean has to Offer.

PEACE

Man do I feel that comment, I am born in the USA very capeverdeanized, so they call me, I am Kryola, all day, I just happen to be born here in the US, I learned how to speak english when I went to school, I was brought up so old skool, and My parents did not stress what society tells you to do with your children, My parents raised my brother and I as if we grew up in Cabo verde, Iremeber when I was a child in my neighborhood it was many Capeverdeans, and everyone looked out for each other children, now everyone wants to just talk about each others children. Our back yard consisted of pipino(cucumbers), kobi (collard greens), midjo(corn) uvero (grape vines) yes here in US, my mom didnt go buy veggies, we picked them, certain seasons, every Tuesday, the girls in the six apartment house we lived in would meet on the steps to Kasca fava, peel beans off their skin and put them in individual zip-lock bags and put peoples names on them, to be distributed throught the complex, cool huh? Now it is at the time I thought everyone in the nieghborhood lived the same way. I was taught that sex is not to be considered until after marriage, whether or not I followed that rule doesnt matter, because it kept me from experimenting at a young age regardless, because it was programmed that is was not to be done, I got confused when I started learning it in health class, I remebering thinking to my self, how dissappointed my mother would've been if she knew what they were telling us in school, due to her language barrier, she never knew what health class was, and I never told her. You see my point is no matter how hard a parent tries, it only takes one different influence to make a teenager or child curious as to why other do things differently, and unfortunatelt this curiosity has serious consequences, to our youth, our culture has seperated so badly, everyone has adapted, which is understandable, but adapting means you give up alot of what can hold you and your family together. I am saddened by what I am seeing nowadays, seems like there is no end, beacuse everyone including capeverdeans, want to use the american tactics to combat the capeverdean issues, you can not learn by reading a book how this will work, hard working parents, were brought up by old school grandparents. children are now being brought up by americanized, crioles, who think that if they just cook a pot of katchupa once a year the culture will be saved.

Parents who need community programs to help them should have thought of birth control when they were younger. I saw a kriola at South Bay Stop & Shop arguing with the cashier for her Welfare Similac yet she was dressed head to toe in Aeropostale. Something is wrong with that picture. Fitcha Pe.
