I just wanted to know why would people write such a letter... and yet claim to represent a humble and honest community...

I have been thinking about Cape Verde and try to understand why is it that Capeverdeans are welcomed everywhere? Why is it that as soon as people get in touch with a capeverdean they get so interested/ impressed that they travel to CV and get to know the homeland? Why is it that we are well known given that we are not rich or have lots of natural resources?

So after 21 years of thinking I could only find one answer. Cape Verde is not all about the land. In fact, the land itself doesn't have much to offer .It is not raining as it used to be. In my opinion Cape Verde is its people. Cape Verde is the harmony, solidarity, trust, confidence, respect, risk -take, hard-work, polite, intelligent, positive attitude, great sense of humor and many other qualities that we the people from the Islands have in our hearts. These are what makes us who we are, and be respected and welcomed everywhere.

That is the reason why people want to go to CV. They go repeatedly for years and many don't know why they keep going back. Well, the answer is: they go to Cape Verde only to find that Cape Verde is the People. Hence, the beauty of the land, arts, culture, food, grogu, cana, camoca, torema, sarabudja, gufongo, pastel are irresistible.. who would resist?

I am disappointed to know that some of our own are attempting to destroy our reputation. WELL I GOT NEWS FOR THEM, THEY WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO THAT. We are strong and when people do things like that we should only use it to come together and fight harder for what we want.

I am not here to blame. Thus, this should not be forgotten..

I guess what we need to think about is how to undo the damage caused by the said letter.. Anti-Semitism is not our style.

We must move forward, we ought evolve beyond this crises of hatred among the the party leaders, MPD and PAICV, and also among our community. We must come together as one.

Your assesment on Cabo verde and its people sounds very good to me.
I think you will find as time goes by PAICV and MpD will make the adjustment of working together for a better Cabo Verde.
Especially when you see the younger people who will soon take over in a few years. Our young men and woman are thinking of having a democracy of unity and for the advancement of Cabo Verde and its people. We have some the brightest students graduating from some of the best colleges and universities from around the world.

For those who are in there teens by the time you get to be 50 years old there will be a new Cabo Verde that will make you feel so proud. We have a dream of greatness a civiliization second to none. It will be a place of milk and honey. The population will increase with Caboverdianos returning from abroad, there will be high rise and condos and shopping malls,visiters from all over the world, to come to what was Milton's Paradise lost to Milton's new paradise found,peace love and harmony and morabeza in the air. Because it takes time to make it right and make sure we stay in control.

But with the wonderful young scientific intellectuals such as your self it could be done in less time,but remember patience is a virtue.

Engineering: that is the proper application of science and mathematics with good direction for excellence. Social responsibilty with dignity and honor. It is in your hands with the blessing of all our people.

At this moment we are trying to set the correct path so when the young people take over and folk my age have expired;you can say thanks for all the sacrifices we have made for you and the coming generations.
