Did you all know that the Goree island in Senegal is only a few hours worth of a boat ride to Cape Verde islands? Did you also know that during the transatlantic comercialization(slavery) of Africans, virtually all of the slave ships leaving West Africa to Europe and the new World(the Americas) had to stop in Cape Verde islands for several days sometimes weeks for the "seasoning" and "domestification" of the captured mainland Africans and for other logistics purposes?
The library of Congress of the United States and other nations of Europe, Africa, along with other countries of the Americas, have information that back up the above statements.
More importantly, though, Cape Verde, having once been the historical stopping point for the inter-continental trade of Africans makes it what the title of this post states, the craddle of the African Diaspora. See, the contemporary African diaspora began precisely at the moment the captured Africans landed in Cape Verde via mainland Africa. Therefore, 1462, the year of the "peopling" of Cape Verde is also the year of the advent of the splendid African Diaspora. That means that virtually all African Americans, all Afro-Brasilians, the Garifunas of Honduras, Guatemala and Belize, the West Indians, the Dominicans, the Cubans, the Puerto Ricans and others, have roots in the Cape Verde islands. So say it once and say it loud I'm Cape Verdean and I'm proud for by saying it you'd be essencially saying the same as I'm African and/or Black and I'm proud.

Yes Kakau I did know about Goree,I spent several weeks on that Island.
The interesting thing about Goree it was slave market like Warehouse,you would look over the many different Africans that were there and put in your order then pick them up in Cabo Verde(Azijah).
Goree and Cabo Verde were the breaking point to the domestication of Africans from many different tribes.Goree is a small Island, smaller then Djha-Brava. From Cabo Verde they would sail on a westly course and if you look at the world map you will run into all the Island which are called the Caribbean and the Lesser Antilles.
The French,Dutch,Spanish,English and Portugal. The Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands was theirs for the taking and the take-over.
It has been said that more then 50 million Africans were ferried across the Atlantic for population. Several millions killed,murdered and many jump into the sea rather then to be slaves.
Did you know that Azijah means the Mighty and the Precious God(Deus) At one time in history Azijah was a beautiful archipelago that was a green place.The many people of Africa went there to pray it was a Holy place for them. Ramu de Mundu (Flower of the World)
The Europeans went there and cut down the trees and float them back to Europe to make castles,forts,cathedrals, ships furniture and armament for war that gave them military strength.
Deforestation and defoliation took place long before Portugal took over the Vikings and other seafaring Europeans. Portugal had to war against them to take over by this time Portugal and Spain had the biggest armada (Navy). Remember the Pope of Rome at that time gave half of the world to Portugal and the other half to Spain. Cidade Velyah is just one historical reality.
Keep up the good work son you are doing a.great job.
Keep your eyes on the prize.

Manu Salah, by God's will we will publish this book: "The kaleidoscopes of humanity: The story of Cape Verde and its inter-continental diasporas." sooner than later and it will be a best selller. The story of Azijah, the mighty and the precious God(Deus), must be told, in book form, that is. And behold, once our book becomes a best seller, African Americans and others ridiculers of CVs whom often are CV themseves, will have been enlightened to the point of experiencing an historical epiphanic rewakening. |

What about Ghana and the Tombuktu empires, where way back in the days Europeans would go there to steal people and make them slaves?
I think they are the real cradle of African Diaspora. |

The statement "Cape Verde is the Cradle of African Diaspora" is erroneous. African Diaspora existed much before Cape Verde was discovered. For instance, during Carthaginian (Punic) Empire war vs. Rome, starting in 264 BC, Black Africans traveled to Europe; (See Punic Wars);
In 606 AD Ethiopians lived in Venice; (see journal of African History);
In 1441 Portuguese navigators enslaved the first 9 Africans at the mouth of Senegal river and offered them to Henry the Navigator. Before that Portuguese sailors had captured Africans in Tanger, Fez and Ceuta (Morocco); (Various sources);
Arab/Chinese slave trade existed in East Africa centuries before Europeans "stepped out" Europe (various sources) |

Look, the fact of the historical matter remains: "African Diaspora" as we know it today refers to the contemporary black(African) diapora, not the ancient version you're talking about. In other words, the massive African diasporas that emanated with the advent with the trans-antlantic(inter-continental) slavery has its historical roots in Cape Verde. This makes Cape Verde the cradle of the contemporary African diasporic communities in the United States(African Americans), Brazil(Afro-Brasileiros) Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize(Garifunas), Dominicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, West Indians, et cetera, et cetera. |

true, for years been pointing this out to help CV's understand our brothers and sisters are in America, and the islands of the oceans. Because the tribes was to be scattered around the world.
A man once told me CV is zion. Could not understand it, till an Ethiopean freind told me that in ancient times Ethiopians and many other Africans would retreat to CV. And Europeans never discovered ish, Maroons was in CV way before Europe. |

Cabo Verd not neccessarily the cradle but the funnel and the Tunnel in the Ocean current.
Cabo Verde was the place of all traffic (Atlantic Slave Trade) as a point of reference on the compass for going west. For sure Ghana along the Atlantic many countries of West Africa. but From East Africa it was Ethiopa, Kenya, Tanzania Mozambique and Madagascar on the Indian Ocean we very seldom here about those Africans who were merchants and settled in many countries which in the past was AustralAsia Oceania. Africans had been to many of those Island long before Europe even knew they were there. Australia,Fiji,Solomon Islands to name a few. |
