Word has spread that the CV government is considering renewing Gilles Filliatrault one year contract as the appointed executive director of TACV, Cape Verde national airline. TACV insiders and CV aviation pundits say Gilles Filliatrault does not deserve to have his one year, $US1.000.000, contract renewed. They claim Filliatrault has performed poorly as the executive director of TACV and has caused irreparable damage to TACV and instead of what he was hired to do, he's done the opposite - he's plunged TACV's finances deeper in red than when he was appointed as the executive director of TACV. For the said reasons, many elements inside and outside TACV hope Filliatrault's contract is not renewed, particulary given what they claim are his poor peformance and dictatorial management style.
Filliatrault, who's a Canadian native, has a one million annual US$ contractual salary as the executive director of TACV. Insiders and CV aviation pundits argue that this salary is extremely excessive, considering that Cape Verde is a struggling developing country where the average annual salary of a professional with advanced University credentials earns roughly the equivalent of $12.000US.
Now that the CV government is reportedly considering renewing Filliatrault's one year contract, opponents say this would be a drastic decision.
What are your thoughts and suggestions?

Where's TACV finding money to pay Gil $1Milion a year? How can a 3rd world country live Cape Verde do something like that? Isn't the company close to being bankrupted right now?!
I think I'm living in the wrong country. Cabo Verde save me a seat that I'm on my way there. $$$

I guess the Government ignored the poor performance of Gilles and renewed his contract anyways. What a country we have! You gotta love Africa and the way things happen there. lol

One million U.S. dollars for a 'estrangeiro' with questionable management skills to run a critical state enterprise? How come the tax payers, the contribuentes, in Cabo Verde won't demand more from the government? After all, it's they (the contribuentes) who are paying for GILLES FILLIATRAULT's salary. |

We...the tax payers, have no word in this country.
know why...cause we can just chit chat, and we scared to loose our jobs going against the power that be, in a real man march. Cannot be different cause when we do so, we get thrown out.
Like happened with TACV employees.
Many times i had my goods stolen by members of this company. ooh i'm sorry if im using the word "robbery," maybe i should call it "subtraction". Still i think the company needs a deep change starting by mister GILLES "mounty" FILLIATRAULT.
Still, when i travel or when my family travels we always have troubles with TACV (Transportes Atrasados de Cabo Verde). Last june coming from amsterdam with my wife i got to know on sal that i had to travel to S. Vicente the day before, when the tickets were confirmed at the same And that's not all. They wanted me to pay extra kilos for my hand luggage. The reason they stated is that if i travelled the other day could be ok. I said, did the plane shrink or what.
After a couple of chit chats with the supervisor i told her to deliver my luggage herself at my job (a known Cv radio station) if she wanted cause i was not gonna pay. As soon as she heard the name of the institution i work for, she hurried on treating me like a prince. Bull$hizzle, ain't it!?
And that's just one of the many stories i have with them, and believe me, they are many. and i know many Cverdeans have their own story with TACV. This is the same company mister "mounty" came to help. He is cutting on the staff so there can have space on the company's accounts to "subtract" his 1 million US$ dollars a year. Are we living a second colonialism where everybody plays the portuguese role and we still the dumb ass same 'ol colonized capeverdeans!? Sorry for offending us but tha's what we are being! |
