Do cape verdeans take their health seriously? I'm concerned about the way we live our lives and certain things we do that affect our healths but yet were so careless. Espeacialy the men, i know us women once we notice something different or strange with our bodies were quick to run to our Dr.s.. but it seems like the guys just dont care or think if sumthing is wrong with them that it will go away on it's own. Theres alot of silent diseases out there, meaning they have no symthom. a yearly physical is recommended for everyone. It's sad to find out something is wrong with u and it's to late for a cure or it's lead to something worst. I recently over heard a conversation about a particular high school in a very large cape verdean community whos students volunteered to donate blood, and the blood was rejected because 80% of it was tainted with the HIV virus. can u imagine that. 80%!!! wow these r young kids whom r infected and have no clue what so ever, and their mostly females. I advice everyone who is sexually active to get an HIV test at least once a year, there may not be a cure but their are medications that can make u live longer. I remember my first experience when i was tested, for years I was scared to do it and then when I did i was so nervouse until I got my results and words cant explain the way i felt to know that after all these years of being scared to know my status i was clean, but u know what, that made me think about the choices I make now. These young girls having sex might think because it's their first time that they wont catch anything, but think about all the ppl ur partners been with and the ppl his last partner was with it's scary. I just wantto open the eyes of our young ppl because there are diseases out there and some of them are deadly and it's time to take it serious, I know using a condom is the best way to go, but u should still be tested. all comments are welcomed so bring them...
